another great classic punk/hardcore record from 1984, i remember i bought this for the mdc track but i was also really into negazoine, dri, septic death and well after buying this i ended up into just about every band on this comp, i bought this from dave from mdc himself, they where selling this comp at mdc shows in the mid 80s for 5 bucks for a while, great times great memories and this to comes with a big booklet on all bands on the comp...

...Not forgetting 'Cleanse the Bacteria' which I think is stronger than the PEACE comp if only for the worlds greatest ever band,SIEGE and of course Septic Death.

CD source is from vinyl.

First pressing had simple b&w labels; subsequent pressings had color labels with the radioactivity-sign on the b-side.

I suppose some folks will shout me down on this, but I just don't think the P.E.A.C.E. comp is as fantastic as we are all supposed to think it is. There are a handful of excellent tracks and many more "average" tracks. My favorite part of this comp will always be the lyric booklet which is far more interesting than about half of the bands' music. Nonetheless, no 80s hardcore collection is complete without owning a copy, so start looking of you do not already have one. Avoid the inferior CD version on New Red Archives, which not only lacks the excellent booklet but tacks on several forgettable tracks by 1990s era New Red Archives bands (read: not good). Search instead for the original as many were made and it was available in the shrink wrap at good record stores as late as the early 1990s for a fair price. One can expect to pay about $25 to $30 for an original copy these days. Anything less would be a bargain and anything more might leave you feeling a bit of buyer's remorse. In my opinion, the greatest international hardcore compilation of the 1980s will always be Maximum Rocknroll's "Welcome To 1984" LP, which has recently been reissued on vinyl. There is also a version on CD released by Sonic Reducer Records. Another great 1980s international hardcore comp is the "World Class Punk" cassette/CD released by ROIR Records in 1984.Those two along with "P.E.A.C.E." will give anyone a sound introduction to the world of non-US hardcore, which one would be foolish to ignore.

I think you're right on the money there dude. In fact, most of the killer tracks were already known, such as Reagan Youth and Subhumans' Rats... I think the comp is a good reminder of just how unequal was the quality of HC music, and that most bands were truly shit (though some of these might have been quite entertaining live...).
