I wonder how this 12" wound up on this label. It hadn't released anything for five years. Then almost nothing again.Very clean production on these. Feel like they are playing in a big hall like Beltram's later releases. But the drums are more freestyle/Todd Terry style.

I'm concentrating on the two tracks A2 / B1 "Base Line Dimension / Mechanical Madness" for this release. The other 2 tracks are more on the rough new york house but happier Todd Terry cut n paste tip. Whereas these are a techno/acid house crossover.AKA Joey Beltram and Tino Tranchese. Also Collaborated under the acclaimed Technical Onslaught guise. This release however, is much less well known and from way back in 1988! Possibly Beltram's one of two first proper releases??Both tracks dark, moody and hypnotic. Mechanical Madness has a more definite acidic edge. Even on this very early Beltram release, you can hear the direction much of his later releases would adopt and then influence much of the later underground techno and hardcore scene.

"Come with me tonight" sampled by Gerald/Derrick May in "FX": http://www.discogs.com/A-Guy-Called-Gerald-FX/release/13344...

Funny because "Meltdown" samples "Voodoo Ray" from A Guy Called Gerald.
