"Rage" has a Rock heart on which is built a catchy piece of music with savage fuzzed-to-white vocals circling in distorted threat, singing angry words in a very Rocky style, a stiletto-arsed wasp single-mindedly Hell-bent on bloodshot vengence wouldn't sound as potentially stinging as this. The music has a Heavy Metal body held up on a scaffolding of Techno/Industrial dance music which brought NINE INCH NAILS to mind - a sort of slightly more laid-back "Head Like A Hole", just lacking the vital ingredient for berzerk head-kick mania by a fraction of a degree. "Random Funk" compounds what already seemed obvious - less Rocky, this could almost be an offcut from "Pretty Hate Machine", using as much technology as it does powerful blasting instruments. Indeed, there are strong similarities to "Down In It" & "That's What I Get" here including the suddenly solo sequence/drums which herald the full kick-into-power. I'd like to hear a full album's worth of this music, just to see if other similarities show through. This is not an accusation of copying, rather a comparison with an obvious soul artist. MORGAN LEKCIRT handles the lead vocals, programming, keyboards & 'beats'; VIRGIL L. HIBBS copes with guitars & backing vocals, and JEFF 'E' PAYMASTER gives live drums & backing vocals.
