Laboratory 2010
6 musicians from 6 countries, 4 days of trial & error and 7 concerts throughout Europe in 1 memorable concert tour.
In 2009, some of the most promising musicians from different European countries were invited by jazzwerkruhr for a four-day musical brainstorm at Dortmund's jazzclub domicil. The musicians didn't know each other, they were chosen by the partners of a network called JazzPlaysEurope. Inspired by the success of the group's European tour, the laboratory experiment was repeated in November 2010, with a completely new line-up. JazzLab Series, De Werf and C-mine Jazz Genk co-produced this second edition of the lab in Belgium. During 4 days, 6 young musicians were non-stop rehearsing, experimenting and exploring at De Werf in Bruges - warming up for their tour. They found a new musical common ground that was entirely their own. The extraordinary combination of instruments made for a real challenge, but that result turned out to be an exhilarating experience, creating utterly beautiful music.
JazzPlaysEurope
Since 2007, ambitious jazz organisations from neighbouring European countries join forces as JazzPlaysEurope. This new network connects up-and-comming jazz musicians and establishes exchanges beyound national borders. But there is more. JazzPlaysEurope also stimulates and installs new artistic creations with European jazz musicians. This cd is testament to that.
