Notes
As the story goes,in the 1950's,the youth of the Lower Newtownards Road were severely lacking with activities and facilities,and in need of some guidance.With the help of a local church,a hall was offered for use in Gertrude Street,just off the Lower Newtownards Road,a street which today does not exist.A club was formed,and by 1961 that club had been transformed into a band,the Gertrude Star.Ulster-Scots Agency
