The Delta - Scizoeffective mp3 album

The slower tracks that come after track 6 are far better constructed than the faster tracks. Good dark, relaxing dark music suitable for a night drive.The other tracks of the album: 'Pop' is a decent opening track to the album. After this track there are always little elements that deter me from listening in full to the following tracks up till track 7: On track 2 - sounds like a Metroid Prime battle track with a guitar(?) sfx that blares out at 0:57, which I find off-putting and jarring in mood for this genre; track 3 is filler and kills the album momentum. "Thing' then adds another intro..., but I digress; it has annoying measures (at 3:51) where it tries to become eerie in a horror-themed way with a high-pitched 2 measured loop. 'Delta Skelter' loses me with the perky bouncy bass [Note: MOS - Respirator uses similar sounding sound elements from this track for the better and, more appropriately for tech-trance, darker.]. 'As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling' would be a success but the midi-sounding guitar kills my enjoyment of it.

Is still remember when in mid-1999 I bought a superb Hard House/Hard Trance compilation called “Fist – The Second Coming” and there was a track by a certain “Delta” curiously named “As a child I could walk on the ceiling”; a track which instantly grabbed my attention and became one of my favourites ever. This was my first experience with a Delta track.Now let’s come to this album. The cover is a perfect indication of the content. If you are looking for the best definition of Psychedelic-techno and Horror-trance then this is it. Released in 1999, this album sounds timeless due to its superb production and futuristic sound. “As a child I could walk on the ceiling” has a bass line sounding like the so called “full-on” which appeared after 2002 but this was released in 1997! If there’s a timeless track, then this is it. Track 4, “Thing”, sounds like the last track being played on earth while witnessing the apocalypse. Track 7, “Supercell” is a super-minimal track with a thundering sound all through. And the closing dub remake of the curiously named track I love so much is also really sweet. The slow(er) tempo on most tracks continues to add to the horror spectrum in the background.Eight out of the ten tracks on this album have appeared on compilations; one of the two which didn’t make it is just the forty-seven seconds long “Intro”. It’s very rare for an album to have almost all tracks appearing on subsequent compilations and this is a perfect example why even though you might already have all tracks scattered on compilations (like me) you *still* need to buy certain albums and enjoy them as an *album*.If you like Scizoeffective try also X-Dream’s Irritant, Spirallianz’s Blast Food, Midi Miliz’s Antistat and of course their 2001 follow-up Send In Send Back.Do you see the link behind those names? Then get anything with that name behind. And before I forget, The Delta recently released Minusman!

I gotta admit, it wasn't love at first sight the first time I laid ears to Scizoeffective. But, inevitably, time and the overwhelming sound won me over. Holy freakin' Antonov, this is one of the most relentless albums I have ever heard. And musical grace from start to finish with a couple of high pointers that now for ever will have a place on my "best of for life" list. I mention briefly Pop, Delta Skelter and As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling. The power here is untoppled, even if The Delta's own follow up album Send In ... Send Back challenges Scizoeffective in terms of consistency. But where SISB may be more consistent, Scizoeffective has the aforementioned stand-out tracks, notably, "As A Child ...". An absolute classic track and a classic album within the tech-trance genre if there ever was one. However, it's with this album as the tech-trance genre as a whole; you gotta love deep & dark, monotoneus music, whose quality lies in its' ability to build a mood. The changes here are subtle and, basically, mostly just breaks or layers added or subtracted. But, if you CAN give in to this type of music and follow the flow I find this to be some of the most amazing psychedelic music. Yes, it may not come across as psychedelic (at all!), but let your mind do the walking and find the courage to go along, Psychedelia may open its' borders for you. Needless to say, various substances may come in handy in that respect, but they won't in themselves make this psychedelic. They just open a gateway to the haunted house that is Scizoeffective.

This album is a true masterpiece within the category of deep dark trance. Marcus C. Maichel's first solo album SCIZOEFFECTIVE will generate the most evil kinds of dark and sinister waves of sound you ever want to hear. Track one "pop" starts of the album with such a low freq bassline that it will stun dogs and other pets instantly if you do not get them away in time - a friend of mine lost his right loudspeaker after having played pop !! Track 4 "Thing" catapults you directly into a multi layered horror movie perfectly directed by Marcus making it a one of a kind track. Delta Skelter and As A Child I Could Walk on The Ceiling makes out the backbone of this record. Both tracks are a must have and I guess that most people into this genre would define these tracks as classics. Track 7 "Supercell" is the most monotonous and industrialistic track on the record. If you need to demolish buildings then fire-up a sound system with this track definitely it gonna blast down the buildings ! Track 7 is a fantastic dub re-mix of As A Child I Could Walk on The Ceiling - the transformation into dub works perfect even though it sounds quite unrealistic compared to the rest of the content of this album. To make it short: this album is a must have, highly recommended and ultra rare to find. For the last part I can say that I have'nt seen it for sale in 3 years - good luck finding it though !

Deep album with haunting tech sounds and noises, feels like you're in a haunted factory with cybernetic ghosts, this album is almost impossible to find nowadays and i'm glad i have this in my collection, my fav. tracks are : Pop, As a child, Thing and Supercell. Superb and very rare!

The Delta's first CD is dark, monotonous, and industrialistic, with deep basslines and screeching samples from gothic factories and horrific allies. Marcus C. Maichel creates his own kind of nightmares, with surprising twists. My absolute favourite from this CD is "As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling (Dub Edit.)" It's amazing how the original song is transformed to a more cheerful one, a dubby one. Yet there seems to be something missing, when compared to The Delta's second CD, Send In...Send Back... Another kind of deepness is achieved in Maichel's second CD, something more orchestral... Yet, if you fancy this kind of musical world, this is a must purchase.
