in waiting
It was 2003. I started studies. Very important and intensive moment of life. A new friend from dorm granted me access to some quite fast FTP server, which also got some music releases, from so called "scene" - a bunch of bad pirates who steal intellectual property. I downloaded many releases from there, including "Business + Pleasure". I felt in an immediate love with "Mazarati Rok". 13 years later I hold the CD-R in my hands, several thousand kilometers from place where it was locally released... Quite specific feeling. Everything thanks to music piracy and OMNi group. And some Discogs user from Canada, who decided to sell it. Bit similar story as with Mateo Murphy's "Inside Out". I waited some pretty long time to be able to pay for importing it from Great Britain to Poland. Because it was available in GB, despite it was released in Canada - unlike in my country. Just few weeks later it become available at Beatport - finally, but why after I bought the CD, few years after original release date? Music industry is pathetic. Always hunting for money, completely don't know how to do this properly. Few days ago I received also some vinyls. Guy had send me just a wrong record, but he refunded it. Anyway, I gave it a try. It was titled simply "Dance". Sweet Jesus. What a cr@p. How this could be pressed on vinyl? At the same time "Business + Pleasure" ended up with a very limited run of CD-R copies. No fcuk1ng big music company ever released it worldwide, on any more durable carrier. But if they knew I downloaded it back in 2003 - they will try to put me into jail because I have stolen intellectual property - music. Music, which they try to protect so bravely... Often from being released and widely available. All the music that I own - that I bought at Beatport and iTunes, via Discogs, as mp3, WAVE, FLAC, Vinyl, mini CD-R, CD etc. - all the music that I know - I know thanks to piracy. Because all the sh*tty radios around the world and music TV channels are playing that commercial popshit, which is simply boring and awful. Contrary to DVAS for example. So how DVAS sounds like? Very Electronic, very Electro. But also very deep and progressive - especially on "Mazarati Rok". When I listen to this track i feel sooo chilled, so relaxed. I like these deep, synthetic sounds layered on rather slow breakbeat. And that vocal. I don't like vocal tracks. But I am glad that DVAS invited rather unknown artist named Shocker (can't find any match here at Discogs) to sing these few lines with his soft, emotional voice. It fits so freakin' well with all the synths. Really worth importing from Canada to Poland.
