A beautiful composition in both its original form and with the Harvey twist (note: my version of the EP does not contain the Prins Thomas and Tuff City Kids remixes, I've listened to these tracks and found them well-done but too far from the original Galarude material). The original rhythm is impeccable, suggesting Caribbean percussions. The track builds up on this theme and instruments gradually blends to compose a melodic progression with a slight melancholic vibe. The second half of the song introduces hypnotic looped strings and you're in for some pagan dancing until it fades out.The Harvey remix works like an extension of the original piece. The whole structure is recomposed while remaining true to the original. Depth is added thanks to reverb synths and a heavier bass. A saxophone track enriches the instrumental and brings a whole new conclusion. Even more than the original, the remix has a mellow yet uplifting atmosphere. Both tracks are great if you like a little emotion, but there's nothing cheesy here. Why not playing it as a break after a rugged techno session? I bought this EP after a first listen at the online record store as it's catchiness simply hooked me immediately. It got me curious about "Galarude", which seems to be a Japanese instrumental band. Unfortunately there is nothing available online on this band, aside from this Discogs reference. If you know anything about them I'd be glad to hear about it, shoot me a private message. We have to thank Prins Thomas and Internasjonal for finding this gem. If you're into well-thought both rhythmic and melodic dance tracks it's for you, and the record is a bargain. Kids will love it, good-natured friends will love it, an uncynical crowd will love it. With strangers or with your loved ones, I wish you to dance on this fantastic record.
