One of the best deep house album. an incredible finesse of listening. Bravo larry heard!!!
Risky Strong Dromedary
The inventor of deep house returns in style. All sides of his musical personality are represented on this album: gentle jazzy grooves, soulmoving tearjerkers with Larry's signature vocals, futuristic acid, even a reggae'ish groove featuring the legendary Paul St. Hillaire aka Tikiman. Can you feel it?!
xander
An unbelievable LP. In an era where the supply of music is endless, take some time to soak in this music multiple times.
Lcena
He is just getting better and better with age. Might be the deepest album so far. Transcends his medium
Watikalate
Love this album! Larry never seems to let me down. His loving craftsmanship is fully evident here, as with all his work. Don't care for "Praise" though.
Otiel
I can see how folks wouldn't like it, but there is something about vocal rhythm and the slight melancholy of lyrics that brings it home for me. It moves me the may great house music can. I think the alternative mix on the 12" elevates it even further. And the mastering...beautiful. What an amazing album. What an amazing artist.
lolike
Let's just say the vocal is a bit too "contemporary" for my taste. I feel this way about most "soulful" new house, which is why I usually opt for instrumental stuff.
Anarawield
Of all the tracks to go after on this, you picked "Praise To The Vibes". I think its an outstanding house vocal. What don't you like about it?
Boyn
I have total trust in this album. I know I can grab any record from the 3 record set, blindly plop it onto the Technics, and get that perfect 2pm Saturday afternoon vibe that I need. There are no mistakes here.
Vudomuro
An instant classic for sure. I got the 2 disc cd and am very glad that I did. The majority of the album is very fresh and relaxing. The first disc is very melodic and accessible. Tiger Lounge is a standout track, with guitars as the most prominent instrument and amazing results. Sands of Aruba is another highlight. The majority of the second disc has a more experimental tone before chilling out with Qwazars and Aether, an extremely atmospheric track. This is a really great 2018 release.
Vojar
Why would anyone read RA reviews? They have poor journalism and hype oriented articles
THOMAS
I second this! and I will third it too to get to 10 words
Agarus
Am I the only one who thinks it's mixed and mastered very clinically? The album is amazing, of course, but I just think it's mixed and mastered a bit unpleasantly. A bit overproduced perhaps.
Neol
It doesn't matter for the quality of the mix as there are merits to both analog and digital. However, all Heard's earlier stuff was very warm, and all the layers were always beautifully clumped together. Here I feel there is more space between the layers, and it's just a bit thin, which is not my taste. :-(
Tinavio
Digital/analog matters not. It's all in the mixdown and mastering.
JoJoshura
Well it just sounds very digital, thinnish, and exaggerated in the highs. And very tight and clinical in the lows. Probably has to do with that the album is most likely mixed digitally as opposed to on an analog desk, like his older work. His older work all sounds very calming for the ears, while this album is quite “in your face”...
Ceroelyu
If you fell in love with the vibes on Introduction then you'll fall for this too. With Larry Heard, House is a feeling, not merely a set of signifiers.
Togar
I can say not his best but don't judge quick either.Sands Of Aruba. It's seriously all about this track. Raw & Instant classic. Albums' best track. Period.Welcome back Larry!
Uriel
Great comeback album from a legend. Not a single track to miss. 18 tracks, 3 x LP release after 15 yrs of absence of some sort. Each record has unique 6 tracks to it, pressed onto 180g sounds nice and clear. The album switches between laid back alleviated deep tunes to acidic jazzy tracks. A new classic.
Risteacor
I saw that RA review - total nonsense. Anyone who criticizes Larry's work isn't fit to judge our music.Really wishing this would show up for sale on CD. Every venue seems to have it not available yet...
Negal
Everyone is entitled to write constructive criticism if it makes sense in the given context. Anyway, who gives a damn about RA which is just about hype and almost as crap as FACT magazine. :*
Kadar
Resident Advisor giving this a 3.3/5 makes the case that RA Is a trash website.
Kanal
And RA just got rid of the "comments" section! They obviously did not like their "critics" being called out for trashing good records.
Drelajurus
Music should be felt by the listener and yes, you can actually write good informative pieces about music still.
Erthai
any sort of Advisor has never been necessary. maybe this is a turning point for some people. Stop reading about music, music should be "written", not "written about"! RA are simply crying for attention with this one, and sadly, they get what they want.. Ignore them, check the album and enjoy the journey. One thing, it could have been 4x12" for higher signal to noise ratio on some tracks, but it still very, very well done by Clone/Rec Ind - quality all the way. an LP that will stay with us for years to come.
Zuser
We needed this to know they are absolute trash? ????
Sharpbringer
True! You cannot really rely on their reviews. I think that the album is great and special.
