I don't support labels which are rather exclusive than inclusive.

No way this release is worth so much. I feel people stopped buying for the music but only buy for collection. And this kind of label is clearly encouraging it...I wouldn't mind if this behaviour wasn't wronging the real music afficionados who don't care if their record is hard to find or not, and just want a nice disc to spin at home.

I really feel this record and this label highlight what has gone wrong with buying records these days on here and eBay. Don't get me wrong, I've no problem with the artist, label or discogs. Yes, maybe they could press more or yes maybe discogs could do something. But this really comes down to people ripping people off. I bought this record a month ago for €20 from a shop and I bet everyone else that has one did the same, including the people that are selling them here. Yea, ok, selling on records, make some money, I do the same. But don't be greedy, this can only be defined as greedy. A 6 week old record is not worth €100 and you know it, you're just hoping some sucker bites and hits that "Add To Cart" button. I'm curious if these same people bought this with that in mind. Long gone are my late night eBay/discogs bargain days, instead I'll just weave my way through picking up scraps that these vultures might miss.

no, it is not the market. it isn't the "stock market" either, as the initial intention to issue shares was to raise capital and later pay dividend to those who lend the money. Well, what "is it" then? It is simply the untamed avarice of some human beings that fills them with joy when exploiting the buyer's willingness to pay for something he desires. Do I say arbitrage is a bad thing? No, because I am convinced that there will always be people out there who are willing to pay more than the original price as they indeed have a personal value. However, do you really need to raise prices by 400% within 6 weeks? Well, it's voraciousness that says "why should I do other people a favour and sell this record for 50€, if there might be someone I can exploit even more".

@robertdmorrison: if the music is good, yes, there will be so much joy, I'd say even more. Less frustrated people, less proud-for-nothing people, all the better.I will add that most of the time, I am so worried about scratching a record that became expensive, that I would rather let it on the shelf and play a cheapy instead, knowing that I could still buy another copy of it easily. And stop about "creating value". You create something valuable when you craft some good music. The rest is money industry bullshit you shouldn't be proud of.

Yeah but in a way it makes things fun and creates value.would there be so much joy in it if everything was available always at a set reasonable price ?

This release was for sale here for unreasonable prices before it even hit the stores so someone obviously bought copies to flip direct from the label. The label can do as it pleases, but I can only make assumptions as to why they would choose to be so limited and feed this behavior when it's obvious that more than 100 people are going to want it. Makes me not want to support, but then they only need 100 people so I guess it doesn't matter;) btw, I saw a few copies of the Lena record in a shop after I had my copy. I knew I could have bought them to flip, but I'm not a fucking knob so I didnt.

The whole idea of someone is "ripping off" is totally ingenious, or people is "greedy", don't take this as personal think against your own and old personal vinyl collector values, its just the market, same market where you sell your records is the same who is allowing doing this! Vinyl means trading, like the stock market, a place for opportunities to make legit money, no place for old romanticism here.
Gathris
Anyone know of any shops that might still have a copy?
Butius
just 100 copies ?? seriously..
