Raelin
For anybody who was ever in high school jazz ensemble, this stuff was crack. Whilst the band leaders implored us to listen to serious guys like Miles and Coltrane, we consumed Maynard records under cover of night. As an adult, if you abandon all pretense that this is anything approaching real jazz, you'll find that most of his albums are exactly what they were meant to be -- FUN.This may be his best album. The mood is upbeat, but never cloying. It has a warm, almost fiery sound and is less pop than his later efforts (a few of which really were kind of bad). The production is very good.My favourites here are "Awright, Awright," "Nice & Juicy," "Pocahontas," and "Mother Fingers." Good stuff all around though.

I agree on this. A lot of his later albums had some terrible TV show covers (even some earlier stuff too!). Awright, Awright is probably my favourite track on this whole LP. I don't care much for Jazz, but this is a good one to listen to.
