Spring Heel Jack - Treader mp3 album

Although the last review of this album was posted here five years ago, it is still true: a monster record; and still completely undervalued. Just found a vinyl version cheap and it is absolutely ridiculous that this is not worth a fortune. The reason might be (like with many other electronic/downtempo/drum'n'bass albums of the mid to late 90s) that people today simply did not ever have heard this. Their earlier records are o.k. but could be regarded as second rate releases in the field of 'intelligent' drum and bass. To me, here they really found their sound (before they moved further out on their following records). On the preceeding 'Busy, Curious, Thirsty', they tried to follow the harder style made popular by Ed Rush etc. that was state of the art at that point, with mixed results. With this, they produced a masterpiece in the field of advanced d'n'b; some tracks are also suited for the dance floor, others are great futuristic downtempo. Has definitely aged much better than many highly regarded records from the era. Science fiction music of the highest order: 'More Stuff No One Saw', indeed. A real trip. Buy this as long as it is still cheap. A forgotten classic.

A true monster of an album - just check 'Winter', put on your headphones and turn up...Ohhhh Yes! - kicks off with excellent off beat militant intro and then those twisted trumpets at 2.00mins - the album is worth it just for that track IMO of course
