One of those albums i listen to regularly since i first bought the cassette in the early 90's. My favourite and imho their best LP, every track is SUBLIME. People/Charts always prefer Low-life and i will never know why... New Order at their peak.

Reading all the reviews and comments [lol @Crijevo - memento notebooks were then popular in my part of Europe, too] I come to think I was lucky I got to know that album as a 12-year-old. From a distance of 25 years I can see it as some milestone that made me open to electronic experiments in rock music [e.g. King Crimson after THRAK] and vice versa. And as a teenager you're so influential that most likely the albums you get to like/love then - you'll cherish for the rest of your life. I could go on and on about how great it seems for blending rock and electronic....but that's been done to death. It's a classic album, perfect album. It is looking back as far as Joy Division [you can hear that in each snare drum hit] and looking to the future with no fear. Few bands these days would risk as eclectic album as this one. As "Dream Attack" fades to end I'm always ready to hear late radio host Tomasz Beksinski say the line from my tape recording of Technique broadcasted on public radio back then: "well, ladies and gentlemen, simultaneous listening with you does wonders..." - meaning that even a classic rock fan like him could find something to enjoy in a cross-genre album like this.

It sure is a bitch getting the record back into the sleeve. That plastic is damn unruly!

Despite being produced only after the 'Substance''s blockbusters releases like "Ceremony" (1981), "Blue Monday" and "Confusion" (1983), "Thieves Like Us" (1984), "Perfect Kiss" (1985) or "Bizarre Love Triangle" (1986), the top-quality LP "Technique" was still considered one of New Order's greatests albums; made from 1988 to 1989, it also reflected the Summer of Love era and the European Electronic scene's explosion. Rather Electronic than Rock & Roll influenced, "Technique" had great synthetic-acoustic arrangement combination, from of Stephen Morris’ drums to Gillian Gilbert's keyboards and most obviously by Peter Hook’s bass lines. Chosen by a PR company to be New Order's first single from the album 'Technique', "Vanishing Point"'s choice got a veto from the band after they dismissed their Public Relations, and the first single released was "Fine Time", recorded in Ibiza and mixed at Peter Gabriel's Real Life Studios (the final mix was done by Alan Meyerson). Acclaimed by a massive part of supporters, "Vanishing Point" became the theme for BBC1 TV series 'Making Out', which catapulted the song to even broader audiences. Another of "Technique"'s hits was "Round & Round" which got a 12 inch single release through several labels and became a club hit. The ensemble of the album deserves your listening, I guarantee.
